229A Mott St., nr. Prince St; 212-686-1630
No outsourcing to Hong Kong here; owner Scott Evan Wasserberger does it all right here in his 600-square-foot shop (often accompanied by his father Artie). It’s a friendlier shopping experience than other custom makers like Seize sur Vingt that have good quality but have become institutions in their own right. Plus, Sew’s minimum order is two shirts, which, depending on the fabric you choose, will start at about $350; at other custom houses, the minimum order is three shirts and the price would be at least double.
