In a space that previously housed a Chinese barbershop (and before that, a massage parlor), Good World has become one of downtown's hottest drinking destinations. Thickets of rum-breathing bodies make passage from front to back almost impossible; instead of chopping your way through, it's better to be guided by one of two waitresses who unapologetically bash their way between. DJs provide the perfect beats for models, Euros, artists and local hip-hop heads on the weekends. The wood-and-wrought-iron appeal of the interior décor doesn't match the inviting back patio, where you can plop yourself down on a bench and smoke whatever you'd like. A menu of Swedish treats like gravlax and, yes, Swedish meatballs is available until midnight. — Kenneth H. Hyman
