Profile
There is surely no more pleasant or inviting steakhouse in America than this magnificent standard-bearer. And the steaks are, if not Peter Luger quality, at least as good as those served at the other top steakhouses in New York—and they don't cost any more, despite the superior surroundings and service. The menu extends significantly beyond steak as well, and is worth exploring for the quality of all ingredients. The often crowded mahogany bar is also noteworthy for its décor elements (the entire Waldorf space is one of the greatest Deco examples ever), and is thankfully segregated from the dining room by glass doors.
Prix-Fixe MenuMon.–Fri., noon–3 p.m.; three courses, $35
